  • What do I need to do in this website ?
    If you are a participant in this study, we will ask you to complete the following on the website: 1) watch a 10-minute telenovela episode once a week for 4 weeks (4 episodes in total) and complete some questions at the end of each episode. 2) complete a survey after you watch the 4 telenovela episodes 3) complete another survey 3 months after you watch all the episodes
  • What type of questions do I need to answer after I complete watching the telenovela episodes and 3-months after the telenovela?
    You will receive a link with the questions that you need to answer in your preferred email address. The questions are similar to the questions you answered during the first meeting with a person from the research team. You need to answer these questions on your own. If you need help, please contact us in the contact section or the email: telenovela@unc.edu.
  • What should I do if I forgot what episode I need to watch this week?
    Review the email you received with the episode notification. In the email, you will have the information about the episode you need to watch. You also can look at the calendar that was given to you at the first meeting with the research team. If you did not receive an email notification about which episode to watch, please send an email to telenovela@unc.edu.
  • What should I do if I forgot to watch the episode last week?
    Each telenovela episode has a one-week window frame to watch. If you did not have access to the telenovela episode during this time, you will receive an email notification reminding you to do so. You will not be given access to the next episode until you have completed viewing the missed episode and completing all the questionnaires. You can contact the research team to let them know if you need additional time to watch a specific episode. The research team will work with you to complete the rest of the episodes and update the calendar with your new schedule.
  • What should I do if I have issues with my internet connection or computer?
    Each telenovela episode has a one-week window frame to watch. If you did not have access to the telenovela episode during this time, you will receive an email notification reminding you to do so. If you encounter technical issues, please contact us as soon as possible via email at telenovela@unc.edu. We cannot provide an internet connection or a device to view the episodes, but we can accommodate your preferred schedule.
  • What type of questions do I need to answer after each episode?
    Questions will be related to the episodes, practices, behaviors, and opinions of each telenovela episode. All answers are considered confidential and will not be disclosed without your consent.
  • How do I know if the answers to my questions are correct?
    There are no correct or incorrect answers, we would like to know from your perspective how to prevent the spread of HIV and generate new knowledge to help other Latinas. We consider all responses to be meaningful in this study.
  • How can I watch the telenovela?
    Use any device (Windows, macOS, iOS, Android) using any browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Chromium). You may also download the App from any Android or iOS device.
  • How do I access the Telenovela episodes?
    Once you get your account setup, you will be given access to the Telenovela episodes. A new episode will be unlocked one week after you finish the previous episode. Remember to complete the questions at the end of each episode to continue getting access to new episodes, you will not be given access to the new episode until this is completed.
  • Do I need a specific program to watch the telenovela episodes?
    You do not need a specific program to watch each episode from the website. If you cannot watch an episode, please contact us in the contact section or the email: telenovela@unc.edu.
  • Is my contact information being shared or can someone track if I am watching the telenovela episodes?
    Your contact information is not being shared, only the research team has access to your answers on the website and track your viewing progress. The survey results (Qualtrics) are confidential and secure.
  • Is my contact or personal information available on the website?
    Your personal information is not available on the website. Only the research team will have access to your confidential information.
